For sale is a well-respected and sought-after 1978 Honda CB750K Four K that is both tax and MOT exempt. It has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life, benefitting from the climate which is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This, along with the fact that it’s only showing 13951 miles and has been in dry storage for a considerable time, has helped maintain its boyish good looks.

Although it looks entirely plausible, we have been unable to confirm this mileage reading, so please disregard it. The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it’s for a commercial venture or just a hobby interest, and it all starts here!

As you can see from the pictures, this bike is remarkably original and nearly complete, missing just the battery. However, the gear lever has been modified, and sadly, the silencers are all holed, and both side panels are broken.

But now for the good news! This is the actual bike you are bidding on – not library pictures from 45 years ago – and it is every bit as nice as it looks here. It’s a great find! The wheels look straight with nice clean chrome rims, good hubs and brake plate, disc, caliper, and working master cylinder. The forks and yokes look straight with good chrome and clean alloy. The mudguards are both solid and tidy. The taillight assembly is good, as are the headlight and hangers. The instruments and switches look good. The carburetors are free sliding off the twist grip. The fuel tank is squeaky-clean inside and has just minor dents/marks and scratches in the original paint. The seat is in very good condition throughout. The indicators are tidy, and the chain guard and grab rail are also tidy. The shock absorbers are damping fine. The engine is cosmetically clean, but best of all, when we hooked it up to a good battery and fed it fresh fuel, it fired up, started, ran, and revved.
